Vot vas that...? )

Viktor Krum was well known for being the strong and silent, very few knew the reasons why. While he often had gaggles of girls following him around, he found them more of a humiliation than an honor. That was one of the main reasons he had been attracted to Hermione Granger – she honestly couldn’t care less that he was an international Quidditch player. After accidentally meeting in the library, he had been hiding from his frenzied fans and she had been looking for a book on 17th century Wizard-Muggle relations, they had talked and found they had a lot in common. They had met often again, less by chance than Hermione would expect. It wasn’t more than a few polite conversations until he found himself falling for her.

She had happily accepted his invitation to the Yule Ball, and Viktor could not be happier, although he knew that she only thought of them as friends. Everything had gone so well, she looked amazingly happy, he felt like the luckiest man alive, and she even blushed prettily a few times giving Viktor hope for their future. As he spun her around on the dance floor, the jealous glares of other girls that would have made him self-conscious before slipped from his mind. It was a magical evening.
However, the magic had ended abruptly when that redheaded boy made Hermione cry and flee the dance. Viktor had run after her, but the castle’s confusing corridors left him lost far behind her.

Abjectly, he had turned around and tried to find his way back to the Great Hall, but in his concern had not paid attention and had lost his bearings. With a sigh he gave up and leaned against a wall, trying to recapture some of the magic of the night.

When he heard light footsteps coming down the hall, he straightened up quickly. A girl was walking toward him. A Slytherin girl based on the green and black gown and smirk she was wearing. Futilely, he tried to blend in with the pastoral tapestry hanging on the wall behind him. She only came closer, and when he saw that she was laughing at him, he straightened back up feeling foolish.

The black-haired witch stopped in front of him, dashing all his hopes that he might escape. Boldly, she looked him over and he felt his confidence escaping. There was something seductively dangerous about this girl, something about her self-confident boldness that spoke danger and charm.

Placing a single French-tipped fingernail on his chest she stated in a low voice, “you’re Viktor Krum,” she moved her finger to her chest, “and I’m Pansy Parkinson.” She stared at him.

Clearing his throat and trying to remember his English, he stammered, “P-pleased to meet you.”

Pansy laughed, “pleasure’s all mine, I’m sure.” She stopped laughing and tilted her head to consider him. He saw the dangle of a diamond earing against her neck and could smell a waft of her cloying perfume. From out of the blue, she stood on tiptoes, leaned toward him, and kissed him quickly on the lips.

Startled, he jumped back and hit the wall. Blinking, he rubbed the back of hand against his lips and tried to get away. Viktor heard her laugh again and he looked down. Much to his relief, she had moved a few steps away. “Vot vos that?” he asked completely confused.

Pansy rolled her eyes, annoyed. “Vot vas that?” she mocked his accent, “vot vas a kiss.”

Viktor shook his head and asked again, “vot vhy? Vhy do you kiss me?”

Pansy shrugged, “I wanted to. Seemed like the thing to do. You know, carpe diem? Seize the day, my boy. I believe in acting on every impulse, taking every risk, every dare, and making my life extraordinary. We only have one life, you know?” Seeing that Viktor was still confused and horrified, she sighed, “don’t take it personally. You were looking lonely and I wanted to kiss you, so I did. Don’t worry about it.” With that she turned and walked down the hall.

Viktor stared after her. Just before she turned around a corner, she looked back over her shoulder and stated, “Great Hall’s that way, take a left and then a right toward the large doors. Follow the music.”

She was wondering if her plan was a good idea after all... )

Padma had never felt more free. After seven long years, she had finally graduated Hogwarts. With honors. Parvati and she had rented an apartment in midtown London and were starting their new jobs at the Ministry that very day. If the trembling of her hands was any inclination, she had never been more excited.
The twins had carefully chosen their clothing for their first morning of work, using each other as mirrors. Parvati was going to be working in the Department of Prophesies and couldn’t be more thrilled. Padma was looking forward to working in the Department of Spells, specializing in enchanted objects.
They soon arrived to the Ministry and said their good-byes, promising to find each other for their lunch break. Suppressing a gang of nervous butterflies in her stomach, Padma found her new supervisor, and he showed her to her desk and gave her some of her first assignments.
Arranging the few quills and parchment sheets she had brought, she sat at her desk. Taking a deep breath, she opened the large envelope that contained her very first assignment.
Slowly, she perused the contents, one large parchment, a map, and a photograph. She quickly recognized the grinning face as it winked, seemingly at her. It was Bill Weasley, Ron’s oldest brother. Padma had never met him, but the family resemblance was unmistakable, and she knew he wasn’t Charlie from the ponytail that Ginny had complained so often about. Though as she peered closely at the handsome face, she couldn’t imagine why – the long hair gave his pretty face a decidedly roguish look.
How on earth was he her first assignment? She thought he worked at the bank, spell breaker or caster or something. Parvati had met him once and had told her all about it. She reread the parchment and realized she was going to have a meeting with him and get his notes about a certain new spell he had created that had been particularly successful. The Ministry appeared to want to use it for some of their more sensitive items.
That would be easy enough. Padma wondered if all new workers were given such mundane tasks. She would have to successfully learn to repeat the spell to ensure that it could be used in the Ministry, but certainly, he could have just owled instructions to them. Nevertheless, she certainly wasn’t going to pass up an opportunity to met up with one of Hogwarts finest graduated and the wizarding world’s most eligible bachelors. Perhaps she should just owl him and ask if he just wanted to met over lunch, killing two dragons with one stone, so to speak. Not that she had any ulterior motives. None whatsoever.

Later that day, Padma was sitting in one of London’s most quaint café, which catered almost exclusively to wizards and witches, wondering how her devious plan had worked so well. Bill Weasley had sent in reply to her owl that he would be most pleased to met her for lunch and discuss the new charm he had created.
When she saw the tall redhead enter, Padma stood as gracefully as she could, thanking Pavarti’s lucky stars that she had dressed so carefully this morning. He was wearing jeans, but they were a nice, indigo pair with a cerulean buttoned-up shirt. Padma tried not to froth at the mouth. “Hello, uh, Mr. Weasley. Thank you so much for joining me. I thought this would be a more comfortable environment to discuss your anti-theft charm.”
Bill smiled widely as he sat in the chair across from Padma, “oh, do call me Bill, and may I call you Padma.” Padma gulped and nodded. “This is a great place, perhaps we should order before we discuss dull spells and charms.” Padma gulped and nodded.
She was wondering if her plan was a good idea after all. She had no idea how to make small talk to this man several years her senior. He was so confident and handsome and she was never going to be able to do this. As she tried to order a salad and croissant from their server, she could feel the bile rising in her throat and was wishing she had never even had this stupid idea. What in the name of Dumbledore had she been thinking...?
Bill’s drawl interrupted her frantic thoughts, “so Padma, you just started working for the Ministry, am I right? It’s so nice to see another lovely young lady dedicating herself to helping others.” Padma bushed slightly, but then turned bright red when Bill scooted his chair around next to hers.
He leaned in conspiratorially and said softly, “I’ve met your sister, Parvati, I believe you’re even more beautiful.” Eyes wide, Padma grabbed her braid, which had been slung over her shoulder, and played nervously with it as Bill leaned in again. “I know we’ve never met, Padma, but I think you’re the most beautiful, intelligent woman I’ve ever met.” Padma smiled nervously, she was going to be in big trouble if he kept this up.
Bill whispered in her ear, “I think you’ve cast a spell over me.” Gently, he kissed her jaw line just in front of her ear. Padma turned towards him, trembling. He put his large hands on either side of her face and kissed her mouth slowly, gently, snatching away her very breath. When he released her mouth, she glanced around the café and was shocked to see no one looking at them. Her eyes darted back to his as he kissed her again, this time more urgently. She grabbed the front of his shirt and, daringly, pulled him closer desperate for his touch. His hands moved down her shoulders, as he pulled her even closer, to where they settled on her waist. As he kissed her neck, she threw her head back, and her numb fingers found his hair ribbon, pulling it out, so that they could entangle themselves in it’s crimson length.
Padma was gasping as his hand slipped down to her leg and began working it’s way up her skirt. It was all too much and she felt like she would burst. Quickly she found his lips again and kissed him passionately. In the distance she could hear a fainting ringing and she wondered if was from the blood pounding in her ears. Her head felt fuzzy and her fingers were growing number. She did not know why Bill felt like he was pulling away from her. Desperately, she tried to hold on.

Padma woke up covered in sweat. Her head ached and her body felt like it was on fire. She sat up and was surprised to find herself in her bed at Hogwarts. With a sigh, she laid back down and tried to find a cool spot on her sheets.

((A/N:In case there's any confusion about the dream scene, I always dream in color and had even read a few times in my dreams, both of which are supposed to be impossible. Padma can too. So there.))

I didn’t know you flew. )
Parvati was glad her sister was having fun. While they were as close as they could be, despite being in different houses, she enjoyed her alone time. She often grew tired of being seen as only part of two. She wondered how the Weasley twins did it; they seemed to enjoy being inseparable.
Parvati grabbed her broom and headed out to the Qudditch practice field. Now, she was no professional by any means, but she did enjoy flying. Since the Qudditch games were over, she assumed that the fields would be empty of teams practicing, especially since that Wood was leaving next year and wouldn’t be getting the team ready for next year.
There wasn’t a whole lot that Parvati enjoyed more than flying. Maybe Divination. After a walk through the warming spring air, Parvati it to the field. She tightened her gold and red scarf around her next and command her broom to rise. Sitting astride, she rose gracefully into the air. After zooming around the field twice, she climbed as high as she dared and dropped to the earth, curving in a elegant arc as she reached the earth to fly parallel with its grassy surface. That was the extent of Parvati’s flying acrobatics; she was to nervous to try much more than dives and spins. Although she greatly admired others’ flips and twirls, she thought they were too dangerous.
As Parvati was soaring slowly around the goal posts, she saw a lone figure making their way onto the field. Whizzing in for a closer look she was not surprised to see Oliver Wood getting on his broom.
“You don’t mind sharing, do you?” he yelled up at her.
Parvati shook her head. Then realizing he probably couldn’t see she yelled down no.
Tucking her braid back over she shoulder, she smiled shyly at Oliver.
“Hey. I just wanted to get out her and fly once more here at Hogwarts,” Oliver explained chuckling at himself. “Parvati, right?” She nodded. “I didn’t know you flew.”
As they flew side by side she answered him, “Only for fun. I think it’s relaxing.”
“Yeah, me too.” He flew fast and Parvati wondered if he wanted to be alone, but he kept glancing at her, almost daring her to keep up. She urged her broom on, and before she knew it a race was on.
Oliver was fast, but Parvati managed to keep up. He flew with quick movements, almost jerking his broom around the goal posts and stands. Although this allowed him to fly faster, Parvati made up for speed in her smooth turns that keep the aerodynamics of the broom. They raced for fifteen minutes, until Parvati pulled to stop, laughing. The wind had whipped her cheeks into a bright pink and her eyes were full of wind-stun tears.
“Enough, you win,” she gasped as she wiped her eyes with her scarf.
He laughed gamely, “it was a tie. You’re fast. How come you never try out for the team?”
Parvati shook her head and confessed, “that’s about all I can do. I’m not agile enough to keep up with all those balls, let alone fly while wacking things.”
Oliver teased her as they made their way back to earth, “I don’t know about that. You kept me on my toes back there.” Parvati just laughed.
They picked up their brooms, Parvati with hers down at her side and Oliver with his slung over his shoulder. Slowly they walked back inside, savoring the moment. Parvati said sadly, “I’m sorry you won’t be hear next year. I had fun today.”
Oliver looked surprised, “yeah, that was fun, wasn’t it?” He stopped and turned toward her. He apologized, “look, Parvati, I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I’ve never gotten to know you. I know that I spend too much time thinking about Quidditch. I should have noticed all the great people here at school, other than just my teammates. I don’t know you as well as you deserve.”
Parvati was astonished. She patted him gently on the arm and said comfortingly, “that’s alright, Oliver. We had a good time today. I’ll always think of you as a friend.”
Oliver looked a bit happier and less regretful as she tucked her mittened hand into the crook of his arm while they walked indoors. It was a beautiful spring day.
