Charlie hurried to explain as he rummaged in his pockets. )
“It’s me, Charlie,” said a deep voice so similar to her fiancé’s.
“What is it, Shalie, dear?” Fleur wondered why he was here.
“Can I come in for a second?” Fleur hesitated. “It’s important.”
Softening, Fleur opened the door a crack and peered out at her soon-to-be brother-in-law. Charlie smiled at her and said, “you look lovely Fleur. I have something for you.”
Curious, Fleur opened the door the rest of the way and invited Charlie in, “what do you ‘ave for me?”
Charlie hurried to explain. “It’s just something Hermione said about muggle wedding traditions. She’s was telling me about it and she said no bride ever walked down the aisle without these things.”
Fleur smiled, “Zat girl is very smart, but I am not a muggle.”
“Yeah, I know, but they’re for good luck. So I though, why not, just in case?” Charlie shrugged, feeling slightly foolish.
“Well, I don’t want to ‘ave bad luck. What is it?”
Charlie hurried to explain as he rummaged in his pockets. “It comes from a poem or something. Let’s see, it was, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. I don’t know if you have four separate things, or if one thing can double, so I brought plenty.”
Fleur smiled, “Zat is simpler zan I zought it might be.”
Charlie grinned, “you should have seen me running around trying to get everything. Okay, here we go.” He pulled out a flower, a brooch, and a ribbon from various pockets of his coat. “I thought Great Aunt Muriel’s tiara would work for something old. Gabrielle gave me a fresh flower from her bouquet, mum lent me a brooch, and I stole a blue ribbon from Ginny’s room.” Charlie looked hesitant as he held out the items to Fleur.
Fleur looked thoughtful then her smile lit up her beautiful face once again. “Zis is perfect, Sharlie, love.”
Charlie blushed slightly as she handed over the items. “Hope you can find somewhere to put them.”
“I know I weell. I know zat I’ll ‘ave good luck because I am marrying into such a wonderful family.” With that she kissed him gently on the cheek and ushered him out of the room. Then she turned back and pinned the brooch on her bodice and laced the ribbon and flower through her curls behind Aunt Muriel’s tiara. She smiled at her reflection in the mirror – she had never looked or felt so beautifully loved.
